Editing Techniques - Dip to Colour Dissolve

'Dip to Colour Dissolve' has a similar idea to 'Cross Dissolve' in the way that is works well with slow songs. However, we used it slightly differently.

Our main character in the narrative is filmed taking pictures in his memories with his lover, so we needed a transition to represent taking the photo with a digital camera.

To do this, we used the following settings on the transition:

Threshold - 0

Soft - 80

Start - 15

End - 100

Colour - White

Using these settings, the (what used to be) a good second long transition fade to white, is now a short and sweet flash of white, representing the camera flash.

Editing Techniques - Cross Dissolve

Cross dissolving became a crucial factor of editing this video as it helps the flow of the slow melody work well in conjunction with the slow changing clips.

- To cross dissolve from one clip immediately to the next, I lined up two clips then dragged a cross dissolve effect from the Video Transitions folder to in-between the clips. This then fades out the clip that plays first, fading in the next clip at the same time, giving it this effect:

It brings me great joy and relief to finally be able to say that my groups music video is complete! I imagine that the finalised version will be up via 'Vimeo' very soon, but I will post it on my Blogger when it is.

Second Ancillery task

Sophie Brown - from my group - is creating a design for Joshua Radin's album. So far, here is the front cover of it:




This has been heavily editted (in a good way) from the picture below, creating a very effective front cover, fitting the title track "Winter" appropriately.

Rough Cut Number 2

Here is our second rough cut! The gaps that are currently present in this cut are still having the parts to them filmed in order for the narrative to reach its full potential.

Slight Change to the narrative

We have made a slight alteration to the narrative after heaps of comments from my class, prior to showing them all the video. So, we have no filmed the girl and me in the video doing things, creating memories such as just sitting down watching t.v, or getting drunk in the street. We managed to film about four or five different memories, most with different costumes to each other to represent a change in time.
We also included a bad memory, like an argument, ending our almost finalized cut with a last argument, result in the depression of the girl.
A second rough cut will be posted soon.
